Observation on Teacher(s), Good Teachers, Good Students

In Yupparaj, the teachers are composed of a native and Thai’s, because it’s an International School. They came from different countries and backgrounds, Nepal, Thailand, UK etc. It’s really a good example of diversity in working. Today, on the observations of the teachers, I will explain about their way of teaching, and how they are communicating with their Co-workers.

First one is, my mentor, Teacher Angie; she is a great teacher. She makes sure that the students are already collect the phone to make sure that everyone is paying attention. She is a patient teacher, and a caring one too, she makes sure that all of the students are paying attention and understand the lesson. When I observed her in her classroom, she is using a conventional method of teaching, which she explained about some material, and after that proceed to do the worksheets. She makes sure to identify which part is hard, so she explained about it more and which part can be explained in a short brief. She’s done everything effectively. What lacks is a variation in teaching. But, this maybe to the material that is more of an abstract concept.

For her evaluation and assessments, she is considering attitude to their portfolio. So, like it or not, how the students are behaving in the classroom will affect their grades. She is using authentic assessments too for the students, she is assessing their cognitive behavior in the class, such as going in front of the class etc. For the written assessment. She had the students doing worksheets and Quiz.

Like Teacher Angie, most of the science teachers are trying to make students learn the material effectively, and of course they’re really open to suggestions, but they prefer realistic things than a great concept but more of an unrealistic thing. They too tend to express their opinion to their coworkers, especially because their job is not just teaching! Sometimes they’ve to make a booth for some events, design etc. And so, I think they’re some really great persons. They got the job well done!
